Aston Villa are not attempting to re-sign Fabian Delph.

Steve Bruce is looking to make additions to his squad at Villa Park in this month's transfer window as he seeks to bolster his options ahead of an expected promotion bid.

The Villa Park outfit have been linked with a shock move to re-sign Delph from Manchester City; the midfielder moved to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2015 for £8m.

He has struggled to nail down a regular spot at Manchester City though, which has led to suggestions he could move on.

But according to the Press Association, talk that Villa want to re-sign Delph is wide of the mark.

Bruce is looking at other options, with the England international not on his shortlist this month.

Villa signed Delph from Leeds United in the summer of 2009 and he made his Premier League debut for the club against Wigan Athletic in August.

Delph reached the League Cup and FA Cup finals with Aston Villa, in 2010 and 2015 respectively.
