Burnley have contacted Inter Milan for the signature of defender Yuto Nagatomo during the January transfer window.

The Clarets have managed to keep themselves out of the relegation dogfight for the moment, but Sean Dyche is keen to strengthen his squad this winter for the second half of the season.

The Burnley boss is intent on adding more defensive resources to his squad in January and it has been claimed that he is looking towards Italy for solutions at the moment.

According to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia, Burnley have knocked on Inter’s door for their left-back Nagatomo and are keen to take the Japanese international to the Premier League.

The 30-year-old has not been a regular at Inter this season and has made just seven Serie A appearances, with only four of them in the starting eleven.

While the defender could consider moving to England in search of more minutes, it has been suggested that Inter remain keen to hold on to the defender and are more intent on selling Davide Santon.

Nagatomo, who has a contract until 2019 with the club, joined the Nerazzurri from Cesena in 2011 and has made 188 appearances for the Serie A giants.

He has also earned 91 international caps for Japan since making his debut in 2008.
