Leeds United winger Stuart Dallas admits the competition for places at Elland Road is fierce, something which can clearly be seen on the pitch.

Whites boss Garry Monk has found the winning formula at Leeds and currently has the club in the Championship playoff places and mounting a genuine promotion push.

Dallas has found himself in and out of the side under Monk, often having to make do with appearances from the bench. As such, the Northern Ireland international appreciates how tough the competition to nail down a starting spot is at Elland Road at present.

And he feels it means when players do play they are determined to give their all.

"It is a very competitive squad, everybody is ready to go and you need to be on top of your game at all times", he told a press conference.

"I think it shows on the pitch with the never say die attitude and everyone is enjoying it at the minute."

Leeds are next in action this evening when they take on Cambridge United in a third round FA Cup tie and Dallas says the Whites are determined to work hard to enjoy a lengthy cup run.

"Together we are all pulling in one direction, we all want to be successful and to do that we have to utilise the squad.

"Everyone is fit and ready to go and whoever plays will give 100% to try and progress to the next round.

"The FA Cup is a special competition, to get a cup run and go as far as we can would be great", Dallas added.

Leeds will be coming up against a familiar face when they head to the Abbey Stadium as Cambridge are managed by former White Shaun Derry, who will be aiming to cause an upset with his League Two team.
