The agent of Kostas Manolas, whose client has been linked with Everton and Manchester United in recent days, has remained coy on Chelsea’s speculated interest in the Roma defender.

The Greek defender’s future has been subject of much conjecture over the last few days, with an array of clubs being linked with a move for the player.

Everton and Manchester United have been mooted as his potential suitors and even Inter Milan have identified the player as target for the summer transfer window.

There have been suggestions that even Antonio Conte is looking at Manolas as a solution for his defence at Chelsea, but Ioannis Evangelopoulos, his agent, refused to respond to questions asked about the Blues' interest in his client.

Asked about Chelsea’s interest, he told Italian outlet Tutto Mercato: “I’d rather not comment.”

The Greek also batted away talk of Inter Milan’s interest in Manolas and said: “This is a question that should be directly put to the Nerazzurri.”

Evangelopoulos also indicated that while the defender is happy at Roma for the moment, there have been no discussions regarding him signing a new contract with the Giallorossi.

He said: “He has a valid contract with Roma until 2019 and Kostas wants to do well for them.

“As for the renewal, for the moment I don’t know; I cannot answer the question, but the boy is happy at Roma.”

Evangelopoulos recently said that Roma rejected a €40m bid from Arsenal for Manolas in the summer.
