Ligue 1 outfit Bastia are interested in signing Bournemouth striker Lys Mousset on loan during the January transfer window.

The Cherries snapped up the forward from Le Havre last summer following his exploits in Ligue 2 last season, but the Frenchman has failed to settle down in England.

Making just five appearances in all competitions and playing just 200 minutes of football, the 20-year-old has always been on the fringes of Eddie Howe’s first team plans this season.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Bastia are interested in providing him an escape route from England in January and are keen to snap him up on a loan deal.

The Ligue 1 outfit have held informal discussions about signing the Frenchman on loan and are expected to make a move during the January transfer window.

However, they could face competition from other French clubs too as it has been claimed Metz and Montpellier also have their eyes set on the Bournemouth outcast this month.

Mousset has a contract until 2020 with the Premier League outfit, but the player wants to play more football in the second half of the season and could accept a move back to France in January to revive his career.
