Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer believes that rivals Manchester United are getting the fear factor back at Old Trafford, striking a wary note ahead of the Reds trip to the ground on Sunday.

This weekend's meeting will be the two sides' second this term, with the first one ending in a 0-0 draw at Anfield back in October, as Jose Mourinho shut up shop.

According to McAteer, it was only recently that sides visiting Old Trafford fancied their chances against the Red Devils.

However, the situation has changed since with Mourinho's team showing signs of their previous selves and even going on to come from behind to register wins at Old Trafford.

The 45-year-old, who played for Liverpool between 1995 and 1999, believes that the Reds must be wary of Manchester United's growing effectiveness, especially when it comes to registering late goals.

"I think the fear factor is coming back with United.

"It certainly wasn't at the beginning of the season", McAteer told Liverpool's official TV channel.

"Other teams were fancying their chances.

"I do feel they are getting back to that old Manchester United way, scoring late goals as well."

Liverpool have lost three of their last four visits to Old Trafford.
