Lyon are in talks with Manchester United over signing out-of-favour winger Memphis Depay, who has also been linked with Everton, however the two clubs are not close to an agreement at present.

Les Gones have zeroed in on the Dutchman, who is expected to leave Manchester United if an acceptable offer reaches the Red Devils, after being keen on Adnan Januzaj, on loan at Sunderland.

According to French radio station RMC, Lyon are now talking with Manchester United over Depay and have even transmitted a proposal for the former PSV Eindhoven star.

The two parties remain some distance from an agreement though and it is less than clear whether one can be reached, even with discussions continuing.

However, Lyon are showing their ambition by trying to sign a player who was rated as one of the brightest young prospects in the game following his performances at the 2014 World Cup with the Netherlands.

Depay joined Manchester United a year later after the Red Devils, then bossed by Louis van Gaal, saw off Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool for his signature.

He has struggled to make his mark in England though and has been increasingly linked with an exit, with Everton manager Ronald Koeman a fan.

Depay has been linked with moving to Everton, but Lyon are trying to strike quickly and do a deal.

It remains to be seen if they can reach an agreement to sign the winger.
