Tottenham Hotspur legend Osvaldo Ardiles insists that he is not surprised to hear about Real Madrid and Barcelona's interest in young England midfielder Dele Alli.

The PFA young Player of the Year has drawn interest from a clutch of clubs, with the two Spanish giants being the most notable among them.

According to Ardiles, it is not surprising given his performances for Tottenham since joining from MK Dons in 2015.

Alli has in fact managed an overall 72 performances for the Lilywhites thus far, scoring an impressive 21 goals from midfield and has also set up 15 more goals for his team-mates.

The 20-year-old though is not the only player capable of attracting interest, the 64-year-old insists, as the success the north Londoners have achieved over the last few season has made almost all the players valuable in the transfer market.

"Success breeds success, and a lot of [Spurs] players are starting to demand interest from different clubs", Ardiles was quoted as saying by Spanish daily Marca.

"Real Madrid and Barcelona are going to be interested and I would say Dele Alli is the prime suspect right now.

"Everyone wants him, and if I was the manager of Real Madrid and Barcelona, I would want him.

"He is a wonderful player and very young."

Though Tottenham's run in the Champions League this term has ended prematurely, they are well placed in third in the league table with 42 points from 20 matches.
