Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey admits that it was important that the Gunners stayed patient against Swansea City, as Arsene Wenger predicted that they would find a way through the Welsh side's backline, following a 4-0 win.

Swansea pressed Arsenal hard in the opening exchanges and didn’t allow the away side to create too many good opportunities to score, but the Swans failed to create anything at the other end too.

And the Gunners eventually took the lead when Olivier Giroud continued his good form to open the scoring in the 37th minute and went into the break leading the encounter.

The second half became worse for the home side and Alex Iwobi’s shot took a wicked deflection off Jack Cork and looped over Lukasz Fabianski’s head to double the lead for the Gunners.

Iwobi again got lucky when another one of his shots was deflected in by Kyle Naughton’s trailing leg to take the game beyond Swansea and Alexis Sanchez scored the fourth goal for Arsene Wenger’s team to complete the demolition job of Paul Clement’s men.

Gunners midfielder Ramsey feels they started well and thinks taking the lead was important to create pressure on Swansea as Arsenal were always confident of breaking down the home side at the Liberty Stadium.

Ramsey told the BBC: "It was important that we took the lead.

"We started off well and scored a few goals, coming away with a convincing win.

"One of our main targets was to not concede and we did that.

"We nullified them to half chances.

"The manager told us to be patient and we will break them.

"That proved to be the case."

The Gunners will next take on Burnley at the Emirates next Sunday in another Premier League clash.
