New Leeds United co-owner Andrea Radrizzani says the club will be guided by head coach Garry Monk when it comes to navigating the transfer market.

Questions have often been raised at Leeds over who buys the players due to chairman Massimo Cellino's hands-on approach. Cellino also insists on appointing a head coach and not a manager, believing that coaches should primarily focus on coaching the side rather than doing deals.

Radrizzani, who has bought 50 per cent of the club from Cellino, is keen for Monk to lead the way in the market and has vowed to be guided by the former Swansea City boss.

At a press conference this morning, Radrizzani said: "We need to follow the direction of Garry in the market and coordinate with him what we need."

However, the Italian businessman insists that throwing money around in the transfer market does not always bring the desired results.

"Football often shows money does not always equal success", he added.

Radrizzani also admitted that there is a challenge which comes from running a club continually making losses year after year.

"It is not easy to manage a club which makes a loss every year.

"We need to find the right balance of management and infrastructure", Radrizzani said.

Monk has insisted he is looking to add up to two players this month as he aims to strengthen his squad for the second half of the season.

Leeds are currently in a battle for promotion to the Premier League and sit in third spot in the Championship table following Friday night's 1-0 win over Derby County at Elland Road.
