Marseille president Jacques-Henri Eyraud is keeping his cards close to his chest over his side's swoop for West Ham United midfielder Dimitri Payet.

The French giants have already bid for Payet, but so far have not hit West Ham's asking price, with the Hammers insisting they have no need to sell.

Payet has told West Ham he wants to leave and is now training with the club's Under-23 side.

Whether an agreement can be reached remains to be seen, but Marseille's president is determined not to be drawn on the status of his side's swoop for the France international.

"I'm not going to give a comment on anyone", he said at a press conference, when asked about Payet.

"I'm sorry", Eyraud added.

Payet joined West Ham from Marseille in the summer of 2015 and quickly became a fan favourite at the club as he impressed in the Premier League.

He was awarded a new contract in recognition of his displays, but his family have not settled in England and have already headed back to Marseille in anticipation of the midfielder following soon.
