Club America are set to approach 2.Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart for Leeds United target Alexandru Maxim.

The Romania international, whose present contract with Stuttgart runs until the summer of 2019, has thus far made 18 appearances in all competitions for the German giants in the present campaign, scoring twice and setting up five goals.

Leeds and Club America are interested in snapping up Maxim, and Stuttgart are prepared to allow the attacking midfielder to leave the club for the right price during the ongoing winter transfer window.

Whites boss Garry Monk is an admirer of Maxim, but it seems Club America have stepped up their chase for the 26-year-old.

Despite claims that the Mexican outfit were already in talks regarding a deal for the Romanian, Stuttgart revealed that they were yet to receive an official approach from Club America.

But according to the Stuttgarter Nachtrichen, Club America are now poised to approach Stuttgart for Maxim.

Stuttgart insist they are not looking to offload Maxim, but it is likely they will deal if the offer is between €3m and €4m.

“We will not send anyone away”, Stuttgart sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser explained.

It remains to be seen if Maxin remains at Stuttgart or makes a move away from the club this month.

He could settle quickly at Club America as he speaks good Spanish from his time at Espanyol.
