Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva has admitted it is too early to talk about winning silverware and stressed that the Reds need to focus on one game at a time to do their best this season.

Jurgen Klopp’s men defeated League Two outfit Plymouth Argyle at Home Park on Wednesday to progress to the next round of the FA Cup.

Lucas, who captained his side during the game, gave the Reds the lead just 18 minutes into the game, which was enough for the visitors to advance to the fourth round of the cup.

Liverpool are currently third in the Premier League table and are also in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup; the Reds lost 1-0 to Southampton in the first leg.

The fans will be expecting the Merseyside giants to get their hands on a trophy this season but Lucas has said that it is too early to talk about the chances of grabbing silverware.

"Hopefully we can get to the finals in the two cups and, [in] the Premier League, try to win it because I think we’ve shown that we are capable [of it]”, Lucas told the club website.

"It's always hard to say now in January that we are going to win something.

“We just have to go game by game, enjoy it and do our best", added the 30-year-old.

The Reds will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the next round of the FA Cup this month.
