Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has expressed his desire to wait until late summer for the right player in order to strengthen his squad.

The Bhoys have only added one player to their squad this month in the shape of midfielder Kouassi Eboue.

The former Liverpool manager however is not concerned about his team's transfer activity and insists that he would not lose any sleep even if he is not able to acquire any more players even until late in the summer.

According to Rodger, it is not just about adding to the squad, but looking to bring in quality and therefore the wait has to continue until the right kind of player is available.

“It’s not about getting players, it’s about getting the right players and if you can get the right players in, then good, but if you can’t I won’t stockpile the squad full of players just for the sake of it”, Rodgers told his club's official website.

Reflecting on Celtic's captures of Kolo Toure and Scott Sinclair last summer, Rodgers said that the wait bore fruit last season and there is no reason why it can't happen yet again.

“If you get the right players and they come in a bit later in the summer, that’s okay.

"Kolo Toure came in late on last year and did a great job for us and really helped to us through.

"Scott Sinclair came in late and did a great job for us and got us through.

“So if the right ones are available then we’ll do it.

"If they’re not, then we’ve got a really strong squad to take us through to the end of the season and then we’ll revisit it then.”
