Rangers manager Mark Warburton admits that the signings of Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman will add much needed strength to his side’s midfield in the second half of the season.

With Joey Barton leaving the club, Jordan Rossiter injured and Niko Kranjcar out for the season injured, Rangers needed bodies in the middle of the park in the ongoing transfer window.

The Glasgow giants snapped Toral and Hyndman on loan deals from Arsenal and Bournemouth respectively and Warburton admits that the additions were very much needed.

He feels that he was short on numbers in the middle of the park for the second half of the season and is confident that the new boys will add much needed spark to his midfield.

The Rangers boss is also certain that the duo will fit right in with the style of football Rangers play.

Warburton said in a press conference: “We knew we had to strengthen the midfield.

“With Joey departing, Niko’s injury and Jordan’s injury etc; Matt Crooks needed to play or have a consistent run of games.

“So we knew we had to strengthen the midfield area and add some creativity, dynamism and energy and so we are delighted to get Jon and Emerson on board.

“These boys are technically gifted, can see a pass, clever and will fit straight into the system.”

The duo could make their debuts for Rangers when they host Motherwell in a Scottish Cup game on Saturday at Ibrox.
