Watford are ready to make an offer to Fiorentina for Mauro Zarate, with the Italian outfit also mulling at the possibility of selling to the Hornets during the ongoing winter transfer window, according to Italian daily Gazzetta sello Sport.

The former West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers striker, who joined Fiorentina in January 2016, has thus far clocked up just 276 minutes over nine appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four times and providing an assist.

Zarate has attracted the interest of Watford, who are keen to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the season.

Walter Mazzarri’s team are prepared to shell out €2.5m for the Argentine, but the Italian outfit are holding out for €3m.

Zarate’s brother and agent Rolando also confirmed that Watford are in talks with the forward, but insisted that a deal is yet to be agreed.
