Leeds United legend Eddie Gray has explained that he is confident about the Whites bagging the full three points against Barnsley later in the day if they approach the game with the same mindset with which they have headed into their recent fixtures.

Garry Monk’s team have been in great form recently and are unbeaten in their last seven outings in all competitions, winning six of those.

Leeds presently find themselves third in the Championship table with 48 points from 26 games, seven places and 10 points ahead of their Yorkshire rivals Barnsley.

And Gray feels Leeds could leave Oakwell with the full three points if they maintain their recent approach to games.

“I think if we go into Barnsley in the same frame of mind that we have approached most games recently, I can see us walking away with three points”, he told LUTV.

“If we get three points at Barnsley, then it’s a great three points.”

Barnsley will head into the game against Leeds on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Blackpool in the FA Cup earlier in the week, with the Tykes losing the match in extra time.

However, Gray believes the match at Oakwell will be tough for Leeds due to it being a Yorkshire derby.

“I think it helps us that they lost the game”, he continued.

“If you go into extra time and win the game, you leave the game on a high.

“But if you go into extra time and lose it, everybody is down.

“But I still think it will be a tough game, all local derbies are tough.”
