Leeds United captain Liam Bridcutt has revealed that Gael Kakuta is the best player he has ever played with, the two having turned out together at Chelsea.

Kakuta was tipped to reach the top of world football when Chelsea tempted him to London from French club Lens in 2007, a switch which caused some controversy as the Blues ultimately appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport after being slapped with a fine and transfer ban by FIFA, who argued they induced the player to break his contract; Chelsea had the punishments overturned.

Bridcutt was at Chelsea at the same time as Kakuta and saw the Frenchman up close, witnessing the full range of his talent.

Despite leaving Chelsea in 2010, Bridcutt insists he has never played with a better player than Kakuta and rates the winger as one of the most skilful players he has ever seen.

Asked who the best player he has ever played with is on LUTV, Bridcutt replied: "Gael Kakuta.

"He is probably one of the most skilful players I've ever come across in my life."

Kakuta has though struggled to hit the heights expected and has had a nomadic existence in the game.

Now 25, Kakuta counts Fulham, Bolton Wanderers, Dijon, Vitesse, Lazio, Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla amongst his former employers.

The winger is currently under contract to Chinese Super League side Herbei China Fortune, but is on loan at La Liga club Deportivo La Coruna.

He has never been capped by France at senior international level.
