Martyn Waghorn has insisted that there is no doubt he is faster than fellow Rangers striker Joe Garner.

While Waghorn joined Rangers from Wigan Athletic in 2015, the Gers snapped up Garner from Preston North End in the summer, shelling out a substantial £1.8m.

The duo often jostle for a position in the starting line-up, but Waghorn explained that he is undoubtedly faster than his Rangers team-mate Garner.

“Come on! Me obviously”, he told Rangers TV, when asked who is faster between Garner and himself.

“Can’t even believe that’s a question [laughs].”

Garner has thus far failed to make his mark at Ibrox, with the 28-year-old scoring just three times in 22 games for the Scottish giants.

On the other hand, Waghorn, who was Rangers’ top goalscorer last season, has struggled to reach the heights of the 2015/16 campaign.

The former Sunderland man has so far scored 10 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions this season, with seven of those coming in the Scottish League Cup.

Waghorn provided the assist for Rangers' equaliser during their 2-1 win over Motherwell in the Scottish Cup at the weekend.
