Martyn Waghorn has revealed that his favourite goal for Rangers was during his side’s 2-1 win over Hamilton Academical last month.

The striker has often been left out of the starting line-up this season, owing to his indifferent form and injury problems.

Waghorn started at Hamilton and marked the occasion by netting a brace which helped his side to win the Scottish Premiership fixture.

And the 27-year-old explained that both the goals meant a lot to him as they enabled him to get his confidence back.

“One of my favourite goals was probably at Hamilton two weeks ago”, he told Rangers TV, when asked about his favourite goal for the club.

“It meant a lot after being in and out of the side.

"[I had a] lack of confidence and getting the start, a lot of pressure was released.

“The second goal was a huge weight off my shoulders knowing that I can still score.”

Waghorn, who joined Rangers from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015, played a key role in helping the Gers return to the top flight after a gap of four years by being their top goalscorer last season.

The forward has thus far made 21 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants in the present campaign, scoring 10 times and setting up five goals.
