Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that Liverpool target Mahmoud Dahoud is to join Borussia Dortmund this summer.

Dortmund have been working hard to tempt the schemer to join, with coach Thomas Tuchel a big fan of the Germany Under-21 international.

However, matters had been complicated by interest from Liverpool, where boss Jurgen Klopp is also a fan of Dahoud.

Dahoud though has chosen Dortmund and is available this summer for a fixed release clause price of around €10m, which the Ruhr giants will pay.

Eberl said at a press conference: "The decision has been made. Mahmoud Dahoud will leave us. He has opted for BVB."

And the sporting director believes it was important to announce the decision as it means the team and the players can focus with a clear head on the remainder of the season.

"It is important that we play the best we can until the end of the regular season", Eberl explained.

"It was important for the players and the club, that there was a decision, so that everyone can have a clear head again."

Coach Dieter Hecking meanwhile feels that Dahoud's impending move to Dortmund is a sign that Gladbach are doing the right things with their players, while he vowed to reinvest the cash recieved.

"The transfer shows that we're doing a good job.

"Our task is to develop talents and to be successful", he added.

"We will invest the money we get for Dahoud, and again try to find a good successor."
