Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has showered Manchester United linked midfielder Toni Kroos with praise.

It has been claimed that Manchester United have reignited their interest in Kroos and want to take the Real Madrid star to Old Trafford this summer.

Former Manchester United boss David Moyes said earlier this season that the Red Devils agreed terms with Kroos before the Germany international joined Real Madrid from Bayern Munich in 2014.

The 27-year-old, who helped Real Madrid to win the Champions League last season, has thus far made 41 appearances in all competitions in the present campaign, scoring twice and setting up 15 goals.

And Klopp explained that he considers Kroos an “exceptional footballer”, who is a vital member of the Real Madrid team.

The Liverpool boss came up against Kroos on numerous occasions during his managerial spell in Germany with Mainz and Borussia Dortmund, while his compatriot turned out for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, where he spent a season on loan.

“Toni Kroos is an exceptional footballer, he’s a genius”, he told Spanish daily Marca, when asked which current footballer he appreciates.

“He’s so subtle with the ball. He’s very important for Real Madrid.

“I like him very much. He always knows what to do with the ball.”

Kroos, whose present contract with Real Madrid runs until 2022, has 76 caps and 12 goals for Germany to his name, with the midfielder helping his country to lift the 2014 World Cup.
