Rangers starlet Jamie Barjonas has revealed Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was his role model while growing up.

The 18-year-old midfielder made his senior Rangers debut in the 2-1 win over Partick Thistle last weekend and gave a good account of himself after coming on as a 71st minute substitute for Danny Wilson at Firhill.

And Barjonas revealed that Scholes was his idol as the ex-England international was a “great all-round midfielder and had everything” in his locker.

Scholes, who amassed over 700 appearances for Manchester United between 1993 and 2003, helped the Red Devils to win 11 Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups and two Champions Leagues, amongst other honours.

“My idol was Paul Scholes”, Barjonas said in a question and answer session on Twitter.
