Chelsea have lodged an enquiry for Genoa midfielder Diego Laxalt ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Premier League champions have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old Uruguayan midfielder and there has also been interest from Napoli, Lazio and Fiorentina.

However, Chelsea are only club to shown any concrete interest in Laxalt and it seems the Blues have made tentative steps ahead of making an approach for the midfielder.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, Antonio Conte has enquired with Genoa about the possibility of signing the Uruguay international during the summer transfer window.

His ability to play on the left-flank particularly interests the Chelsea manager as the Italian is keen to add more options to his squad who can play in the wing-back roles in his system.

There are suggestions that Genoa value the midfielder at around €15m, but if more clubs jump into the fray for Laxalt, the club are hoping that the price could rise in the summer.

Laxalt, who joined Genoa from Inter in January 2015, has a contract until the end of next season with the club.

He also made his debut for Uruguay last year and has two international caps to his name.
