Dean Saunders believes Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann will now consider a move to Liverpool, after the Reds qualified for the Champions League.

Atletico Madrid star Griezmann has been linked with a big-money move away from the Vicente Calderon in the summer transfer window, with Manchester United leading the chase for his signature.

However, former Liverpool striker Saunders thinks the Reds' top four finish opens doors in the transfer market and Griezmann will now have added the Merseyside giants to the list of clubs he would be willing to join if he leaves Atletico Madrid.

"I mentioned Griezmann and Liverpool will be on his list now", Saunders said on LFC TV.

"He will have a conversation with them if he's coming to England", he added.

Saunders stressed that Liverpool must though give Jurgen Klopp money if they realistically expect him to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

"But there are six teams who can win the league and five of them have spent a lot more money than Liverpool – and they will next year, so they've got to give Jurgen Klopp the money if they want to win the title."

Liverpool have been cautious in the transfer market during Klopp's time at the club, failing to make a single signing in this year's winter transfer window, despite being in the midst of a slump, while the Reds made a profit on their player dealings last summer.
