Iker Casillas is interested in playing for Liverpool after receiving an offer from the Merseyside giants, according to Spanish daily AS.

The goalkeeper, whose present contract with FC Porto will expire this summer, joined the Portuguese giants from Real Madrid on a two-year deal in 2015.

Last summer Casillas intended to extend his contract with Porto for a further season, but he ultimately decided against signing it.

The 36-year-old was in fine form for Porto in the 2016/17 campaign, conceding just 23 goals in 43 matches in all competitions, managing 23 clean sheets.

His impressive performances has attracted the interest of Liverpool, with several clubs from Qatar, China and Turkey also showing interest in the veteran custodian.

However, it has been claimed that Casillas considers the offer from Liverpool the most solid as it would enable him to play in the Champions League next season.

The Reds beat Middlesbrough 3-0 on Sunday to finish in fourth spot in the Premier League and are now due to play in the Champions League playoff round.

It has been also reported in some corners that Casillas may have also signed a pre-contract agreement with the Anfield outfit.

Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius are currently the two senior goalkeepers at Liverpool.
