Celtic custodian Craig Gordon insists that the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen will give the Bhoys the chance to make history, but they cannot afford to get carried away by the occasion.

The Hoops have enjoyed a successful season under manager Brendan Rodgers and stand on the brink of making history by becoming the first team to go unbeaten in the entire domestic season.

Scottish Cup glory would also make Rodgers's team the first in 16 years to win the treble and Gordon insists that he and his team-mates will leave no stone unturned to achieve that goal.

The 34-year-old also took time to insist that his team need to be cautious in their approach and not get carried away by the largeness of the occasion in order to make sure that they write their names in the club's history books.

“It is good to finish the season unbeaten and you can't be in a much better place going into a cup final”, Gordon told his club's official

“Everyone is looking forward to it.

“It is a great opportunity to go in and make history, to be one of the best teams that have ever played for this club and to achieve something like that.

“If we can do it we will always be remembered and to be part of that would be very special. You don’t get many occasions during your career to get something like that on your CV so we are looking forward to it.

“But we can't get carried away with everything. We know the importance of the game, what is on the line and at stake.

“We will go in and play our game. If we can concentrate on our performance and play well enough to win the game then all that will come with it."

The veteran goalkeeper will be looking to play his 55th match of the season at Hampden on Saturday.
