Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has revealed he had to move due to constant attention from Reds fans when he was with his family.

The Belgian custodian joined the Merseyside giants from Sunderland in 2013 and has often seen his performances between the sticks criticised.

However, he has fought back hard this season after initially being dropped by boss Jurgen Klopp, reestablishing himself as the club's number 1, and is widely tipped to continue in the role heading into next term.

Mignolet admits that the form of the team influences the fans who approach him, but even so, he admits he felt the need to move out of Liverpool as he did not want bothering when with his family.

"You cannot walk or shop undisturbed", Mignolet told De Zondag.

"I was at the station last week. Five minutes in and out of the car and I was already welcomed.

"Now, when it's OK with the team, that's fun.

"The people here get up and go to sleep with football.

"Their mood depends.

"We [in Belgium] cannot imagine that.

"That makes it beautiful too", Mignolet continued.

"But if you walk with your family, it can be less enjoyable.

"That's why two years ago we moved to a town 20 miles away – for the rest.

"And Jasmine now lives closer to her work", he added.

Mingolet turned out in 28 of Liverpool's 38 Premier League matches this season, conceding 30 goals and keeping nine clean sheets.

His deal with the Reds runs until the summer of 2021.
