AC Milan CEO Marco Fassone has refused to confirm whether the club are interested in signing Manchester United target Alvaro Morata in the summer.

The 24-year-old Spanish striker is expected to leave Real Madrid in the summer after struggling to become a regular starter under Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu.

Chelsea have been interested in signing the Spain striker and even Jose Mourinho has been linked with plotting to take him to Manchester United during the upcoming transfer window.

However, there have been suggestions that AC Milan have been putting in the legwork in recent days to attract Morata to the San Siro and the former Juventus player is also said to prefer a move back to Italy.

Fassone admits AC Milan have clear ideas about their plans for the window and have already spoken to several clubs and agents, but he refused to confirm that the Rossoneri are after Morata.

Asked about AC Milan’s interest in Morata, the club CEO told Radio Uno: “I cannot say whether Milan are close to one player or the other.

“We have talked with many clubs and agents.

“There are some clear ideas but I don’t want to name names and create enthusiasm or problems.”

Morata has netted 20 goals this season in all competitions despite only receiving a handful of opportunities in the starting eleven at Real Madrid.
