Diego Costa believes fellow Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi possesses all the qualities to stay at the club, amidst interest from West Ham United and Newcastle United.

Batshuayi, who joined Chelsea from Marseille last summer, featured sparingly for the Blues in the 2016/17 campaign as he managed to clock up just 702 minutes over 28 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine times and setting up three goals.

The 23-year-old has been linked with a loan move away from Chelsea this summer, with Monaco, West Ham and Newcastle interested in him.

Although Batshuayi made just one Premier League start for Chelsea, he found the back of the net in the Blues’ last three league games and scored the goal which won the club the Premier League title.

Costa, who thinks Batshuayi has a bright future ahead of himself, feels the Belgium international has all the qualities to remain at Stamford Bridge.

"Batshuayi is a big player and has an impressive future for himself”, Costa was quoted as saying by Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad.

“In the last games he has proven that he has quality and scoring ability.

“He is a boy who will take big steps.

“Hopefully he will continue to grow and keep his head in the right place.

“He has all the qualities to stay here.”

Costa has also been linked with a move away from Chelsea, who are claimed to be on the hunt for Romelu Lukaku.

But the Spaniard would welcome Lukaku to Stamford Bridge as he rates the Everton striker highly.

"Lukaku is a great player", he said.

"I hope he will have the possibility to sign for Chelsea because Chelsea is a unique club."
