Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur target Issa Diop admits he knows he will eventually have to leave Toulouse to take the next step in his career.

The young defender was in impressive form for Toulouse in Ligue 1 this season and is now set to showcase his skills even futher at the Under-20 World Cup with France.




RB Leipzig are claimed to have recently put in an offer for Diop, while Arsenal and Tottenham are alive to his talents, and the defender admits he must eventually bid farewell to Toulouse to take the next step.

"Toulouse is my city, it is my club and I know that one day it will be necessary to leave it", the centre-back admitted to Eurosport France.
 


"I will be sad, of course, but I know that my progress will go beyond there", he added.

Diop, who is considered one of the most promising defensive talents in France, admits he does want to graduate to the France senior team.

But the defender insists he has put no target on when that might be and is willing to let things take their course as he continues to develop.

"I do not set any particular deadlines, but after all, I want to play for the France team and represent my country", he explained.

"I continue to work, to progress. Everything comes in time."

Diop came through the youth ranks at Toulouse, eventually making his senior team bow in 2015.

The defender has represented France at every youth age group.
