Liverpool are continuing talks with Roma over winger Mohamed Salah after seeing an initial offer fail to win approval in the Italian capital.

After an unsuccessful stint at Chelsea in English football, the Egyptian winger has found success in Italy, initially at Fiorentina, and with Roma over the last two seasons.

The winger could be back in England this summer as Liverpool have shown concrete interest in him and have made the initial moves to secure his signature ahead of next term.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, the Reds made an initial offer of €30m plus bonuses for the player – but it is not enough.

Roma are demanding somewhere around €45m for Salah but talks have continued between the two clubs and they are hopeful of reaching a compromise figure.

Salah was in terrific form for Roma this season, scoring 15 goals and providing eleven assists in 29 Serie A appearances for the club, making him one of the most potent attacking threats in Italian football.

Roma are grudgingly considering selling the player as they need to balance the books before the end of the month.

It remains to be seen whether Salah manages to prove Chelsea and his detractors wrong by succeeding in English football should he complete a move to Liverpool in the summer.
