Barcelona need more time to decide if they want to re-sign Everton winger Gerard Deulofeu, who only wants to return to the Camp Nou if he is promised a leading role.

Deulofeu spent the 2013/14 season on loan at Everton before the Merseyside club decided to sign him permanently in the summer of 2015.

The Spaniard struggled to find success at Everton under Ronald Koeman last season and was sent out on loan to AC Milan in January.

Deulofeu managed to rekindle his form in Italy, scoring four times and setting up three goals in 17 appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri.

And there have been suggestions that Barcelona could buy him back from Everton this summer for a set fee of €12m.

However, according to Catalan daily Sport, Barcelona have decided to stall their decision about re-signing Deulofeu, with the Spanish giants keeping other negotiations about the 23-year-old open.

Barcelona could look to buy him back and then quickly sell him for a profit in the summer transfer window.

It has been claimed that AC Milan are keen to extend Deulofeu’s stay at the San Siro.

On the other hand, the Deulofeu could return to Barcelona to play for Ernesto Valverde’s team, but it is believed that the Spain international will only re-sign for the Catalan outfit if he feels valued by them.

As a result, Barcelona need more time to decide about Deulofeu, whose present contract with Everton runs until 2018.
