Lyon have decided to put an end to negotiations over a new contract for AC Milan and West Ham United target Rachid Ghezzal.

The Algerian’s current deal runs out at the end of the month and he is widely expected to leave the club on a free transfer with a number of clubs interested in him.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas sounded confident about holding on to Ghezzal last month but talks over a new deal for him have not gone anywhere and it seems the club have run out of patience.

According to French magazine Le 10 Sport, Lyon have decided to end all discussions with the player’s representatives over a new deal and are more or less resigned to losing the winger in the summer.

Arsenal have long been linked with a move for Ghezzal and even Everton are said to be interested, but the winger has most recently been linked with West Ham and is also said to be attracting offers from Italy ahead of the transfer window.

AC Milan have already held discussions with his agent and Roma are said to be interested in signing the winger in the upcoming transfer window as a potential replacement for Liverpool target Mohamed Salah.

Lyon have not completely given up on the Ghezzal but they are aware that a scenario where he signs a new deal and stays at the club is difficult to picture at the moment.
