Chelsea are closing in on the signature of Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko and are hopeful of making an announcement next week.

The French midfielder is expected to leave the Ligue 1 champions in the summer and has been heavily linked with a move to England, with Chelsea and Manchester United believed to be his primary suitors.

Chelsea have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals in the quest for Bakayoko and have been in talks with the player’s representatives for several weeks to agree a deal.

It has been claimed that Antonio Conte has made it clear that the midfielder will not be a first choice selection at Stamford Bridge and according to L’Equipe, after a period of hesitation, the Frenchman has agreed to a move to west London.

Bakayoko is aware of the risk he is taking by leaving Monaco this summer, but the midfielder is confident of succeeding in England and has told relatives that he will impose himself at Chelsea.
