Arsenal are set for disappointment in their attempt to sign Sander Berge this summer, it has been claimed.

Genk only signed the Norway international in January this year, locking him down to a contract until 2021, and he quickly began to make his mark with the Belgian side.

The midfielder is wanted by Arsene Wenger at Arsenal – but the Gunners are not likely to land the 19-year-old, according to Belgian daily Het Belang van Limburg.

Despite Arsenal being ready to pay €20m for the 19-year-old, Genk do not want to sell.

The Belgian side are determined that Berge must stay at the club, at least for the next 12 months, as he is a key man in coach Albert Stuivenberg's plans.

As such, Genk are willing to stand strong against interest from other clubs and make sure someone they believe can become one of their best players stays put.

Berge has also attracted interest from La Liga heavyweights Sevilla.
