Lyon have pulled out of the chase for Newcastle United target Ryad Boudebouz.

The Algeria international is expected to leave Montpellier this summer, with the Stade de la Mosson club looking for €15m to part with one of their key players.

Boudebouz has no shortage of suitors as Newcastle, Lazio and Bayer Leverkusen are all keen.

He has also been attracting attention from Lyon, a move which would offer the 27-year-old the chance to continue his career in the familiar climes of France.

But according to French outlet Foot Mercato, Les Gones have decided to pull out of the race for Boudebouz, as they have other attack-minded targets they wish to focus on.

Boudebouz is currently on holiday and as such any concrete developments may need to wait until his return.

The attacking midfielder was in fine form for Montpellier last season as he scored eleven goals in Ligue 1 and provided nine assists.

His current contract with Montpellier runs until 2019.
