Thomas Christiansen feels he can achieve something good at Leeds United, but has stressed the need for signings to be made over the summer.

The Whites went close to finishing in a playoff spot in the Championship last season, but finished seventh following a poor run of form towards the business end of the campaign.

Christiansen succeeds Garry Monk in the dugout and the Dane believes the building blocks are in place at Elland Road.

But the former APOEL boss knows he needs to add to the squad in order to achieve his goals.

"I want to do something important in this great club", he told LUTV.

"When I see the squad, and if also we make some good signings, we will be able to do something good.

"I cannot speak about what we can achieve, but what I can guarantee is that we will work very hard", Christiansen added.

Leeds have already seen loanees Alfonso Pedraza, Modou Barrow and Kyle Bartley leave, while left-back Charlie Taylor is out of contract and also eyeing the exit door.

The Whites though have secured centre-back Pontus Jansson on a permanent basis following his loan spell from Torino.

It remains to be seen how much money will be made available for new signings by chairman Andrea Radrizzani.
