Negotiations between Crystal Palace and Marseille for the transfer of Steve Mandanda have stalled after the two clubs failed to see eye to eye over the valuation of the player.

The London club signed the goalkeeper from Marseille last summer but injuries and form meant Mandanda’s English adventure has not turned out the way he hoped.

He is keen to return to France with his former club and met Marseille sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta in December to discuss returning to his homeland in the summer.

Marseille have already thrashed out personal terms over a three-year contract with the player but reaching an agreement with Crystal Palace has been a huge roadblock for the Ligue 1 outfit.

According to French sports daily L'Equipe, Crystal Palace have slapped an €8m asking price on the player, who they bought for €2m last summer, and are refusing to water down their financial demands for Mandanda.

The Premier League club are also not impressed with the way Marseille went behind their back to talk to the goalkeeper in December and are keen to stick to their stance for the moment.

Marseille’s first offer has been rejected by Palace but the French club are in no mood to offer more than €1.5m player who played very little football last season in England.
