Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has said that his team's primary focus right now is to go unscathed through the qualifiers and in the process reach the group stage of the Europa League.

The Gers are scheduled to take on Luxembourg-based side Progres Niederkorn in a first qualifying round match next week and the manager insists that their focus has been concentrated only on it.

While the initial aim, as the manager insists, was to know their opponents in detail by watching one of their matches, the time wasn't enough and now he will concentrate only on his team in the lead up to the game.

With the goal being to reach the group stage of the Europa League the aim will be to win all their matches and then see where it takes them to.

“Regarding the qualifier we are preparing, we are doing our homework, we wanted to know the opponent and we wanted to know which one of the matches we are going to scout them to analyse them", the manager told his club's official channel.

“But with the short period of time we are going to have in the lead up to the match we are just thinking about our team, I wanted to spend as much time focussing on our identity and everybody understands the process.

“We need to prepare for the match with only one thing in our mind and it is about winning and progressing to the qualifiers.

“Our goal right now is all directed to be in the group stages and we will have to see what happens after that.

“It is not an easy process, it is a long process and it is a process that we know there are one or two teams in who will provide a hard task.”

The team from Glasgow played out a 0-0 draw in a friendly against St Johnstone on Thursday.
