Chelsea and Manchester United linked midfielder Marco Verratti met Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Thursday to reiterate his desire to leave the club this summer.

Verratti’s future at PSG has been subject to much speculation since it emerged earlier this month that he wants to leave the Parisians after an underwhelming domestic and European campaign.

Barcelona are interested in the midfielder and the Italian also wants to join the Catalan giants but PSG have made it clear that they won’t be allowing him to leave.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the midfielder and his agent travelled to Paris and had a meeting with PSG supremo Al-Khelaifi to find a solution for his future.

However, the high profile summit has produced very little results as both camps stuck to their positions and Verratti’s future at PSG remains uncertain.

The midfielder made it clear that he wants to leave the Parisians this summer but the club also made sure that the player understood the fact that they are in no mood to sell one of their star performers.

Verratti returned to his holidays in Ibiza following the meeting and it remains to be seen what he does in the coming days and weeks to try and force his way out of PSG.

Manchester United and Chelsea have been keeping close tabs on the situation developing in the French capital as both clubs retain an interest in Verratti.
