Fiorentina are poised to enter the chase for Everton target Domenico Berardi as they eye softening the blow of potentially losing Federico Bernardeschi.

Bernardeschi has so far refused to sign a new contract with the club and with Chelsea, Juventus and Inter interested in the Italian, Fiorentina are expected to sell him.

La Viola are already working on identifying a replacement for the 22-year-old and it has been claimed that the club have zeroed in on Sassuolo’s Berardi this summer.

Fiorentina are expected to earn a big fee from the potential sale of Bernardeschi and according to Corriere dello Sport, the club are prepared to spend part of the proceeds on Berardi.

However, Fiorentina are expected to face stiff competition from clubs in Spain and England for Berardi and there are suggestions that even Everton are interested in the player.

The 22-year-old is also on Roma’s radar but the club have so far refused to meet Sassuolo’s €25m asking price and are currently assessing other options.

Berardi was in good nick last season despite a serious knee injury and scored ten goals and provided eleven assists in all competitions for Sassuolo.

He is contracted until 2021 with the club.
