Leeds United are currently leading the chase for Huesca forward Samu Saiz after making the highest bid for his services, it has been claimed.

The 26-year-old’s future has recently come under the scanner after it emerged Leeds are in the race to secure his signature from Huesca, with clubs such as Eibar, Granada, Malaga and Alaves also interested.

His agent confirmed the interest from Leeds on Friday and it seems Leeds have edged past their competitiors in the queue to become the favourites to secure his signature this summer.

According to Spanish outlet Sport Huesca, the Yorkshire giants are leading the chase for Saiz and are in the best position to meet Huesca’s asking price of €3.5m for the 26-year-old.

The player is also excited about a move to England and a deal could be completed as soon as the Whites meet Huesca’s asking price and take him to England this summer.

Alaves offered a fee of around €3m for the player and were favourites to sign Saiz until Leeds made their presence felt in the chase and the Spaniard is now expected to move to England.

Eibar, Granada and Malaga have also shown an interest in the player, but they are yet to following up on their enquiries and table an offer for the 26-year-old forward.

Huesca will now be waiting to see if any other clubs choose to match or exceed Leeds' offer.
