Alaves have approached Villarreal over former Leeds United winger Alfonso Pedraza.

Pedraza spent the second half of last season on loan at Leeds from Villarreal and the Whites would have been obligated to buy him for €10m if they had won promotion to the Premier League.

Pedraza has since returned to Villarreal and signed a new contract, though he has again been mooted as a possible target for Leeds.

Villarreal have been pondering what to do with Pedraza next season and they are not short of options, with Alaves making a loan approach, according to Spanish daily AS.

He also has interest from other Spanish sides with Real Betis and Girona extremely keen, it is claimed.

Villarreal are determined that if Pedraza does leave, it will only be to a team that ensure he can play on a regular basis, and the club are looking favourably on Alaves' approach.

Pedraza's priority too is to play week in, week out in order that he can kick on with his development.

His new contract with Villarreal runs until 2021.
