Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas admits he is a firm fan of Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, but is not in a position to say the France international will be joining the club.

Giroud has been linked with quitting the Emirates Stadium this summer as boss Arsene Wenger looks to add another striker to the ranks over the transfer window.

Lyon have expressed an interest in Giroud, but he has also been linked with Marseille and West Ham United.

Les Gones though have just added Bertrand Traore from Chelsea and are on the verge of signing Real Madrid striker Mariano Diaz, meaning Giroud may no longer be on the club's agenda.

"Nothing is decided. Of course, I am a fan of Olivier Giroud and I think he would have found at Lyon the ability to really endure", Aulas explained on Canal+Sport.

"Things are not sufficiently advanced so that I can give you information that suggests he will come", the Lyon president added.

Giroud is set to turn 31 years old just one month into next season and is no longer a certain starter at Arsenal.

The striker scored 16 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions for the Gunners last term, while in the FA Cup final win over Chelsea he was restricted to just 12 minutes of football.
