Tottenham Hotspur have increased their offer for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Adrien Silva and are hoping it convinces the Portuguese giants to sell.

Spurs had offered €20m for Silva, Sporting Lisbon's skipper, but the Portuguese side have been holding out for a larger sum.

Now, according to Portuguese outlet Desporto Ao Minuto, Spurs have tried their luck with an improved proposal.

The Premier League side have offered an initial €25m, with a further €5m to come in bonus payments.

Sporting Lisbon are open to allowing Silva to leave this summer for the right price, which is considered to be less than his €45m release clause.

The club have a number of options in midfield and believe Silva can be safely sold.

It has been claimed Sporting Lisbon might see €30m as enough to sell Silva, but it is unclear whether they will be pleased about bonus conditions needing to be met for Spurs to reach the figure.

The experienced 28-year-old midfielder has a further three years left to run on his contract in Portugal.
