Burton Albion have completed the signing of midfielder Luke Murphy from Leeds United on a season-long loan deal.

Murphy fell out of favour under now former Leeds head coach Garry Monk last season and joined Burton on a loan deal in the winter transfer window earlier this year in search of regular football.

The midfielder featured on a regular basis for the Brewers and helped the club secure their Championship status.

Now Murphy is heading back to Burton for the 2017/18 campaign on another loan deal from Leeds.

Burton announced: "Luke Murphy has re-joined Burton Albion on a season-long loan from Leeds United."

The signing has been welcomed by Burton boss Nigel Clough, who feels that Murphy is a player who can help to dictate play in the centre of the park and he is delighted to be able to call upon the former Crewe Alexandra man for an entire season.

"We are delighted to have Luke back and for a full season. He will also be able to get a full pre-season under his belt with us.

"He took a few weeks to get up to speed after he joined us in January as he hadn’t played first team football since August but once he did he was as good as we had over that second half of the season.

"The centre of the pitch is so important and we thought he did his job exceptionally well", Clough added.

Leeds signed Murphy from Crewe in 2013 and he is under contract at Elland Road until 2019.
