Former Brazilian full-back Maxwell is playing a key role in Paris Saint-Germain’s attempt to hijack Manchester City’s move for Dani Alves this summer.

Juventus and Alves reached an agreement to terminate his contract earlier this month and the Brazilian dropped enough hints to suggest that he could be joining Manchester City this summer.




Pep Guardiola is a fan of his former Barcelona defender and Manchester City have been favourites to sign him until last week when it emerged PSG have made a daring attempt to sign Alves.

Alves’ agent has been in talks with the Parisians over a free transfer and the Ligue 1 giants are claimed to be well placed to secure the defender’s signature from under Manchester City’s noses.
 


And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, former PSG defender Maxwell is playing a key role in making sure Manchester City are not the favourites to sign the Brazilian defender.

Maxwell has joined PSG’s recruitment team and it has been claimed that the former defender has been trying to convince his compatriot to move to the Parc des Princes.

Alves was team-mates with Maxwell at Barcelona and for Brazil and PSG are set to exploit their close chemistry to secure the signature of the defender this summer.
