Atletico Madrid are yet to open talks with Chelsea for the signature of Spain striker Diego Costa this summer.

Antonio Conte has made it apparent that Costa is not in his plans for next season and the striker has not reported for Chelsea’s pre-season training, which started last week.

The striker is also not expected to be on Chelsea’s pre-season tour of the Far East this week, but his future at the club remains unresolved despite interest from Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish giants are taking their time in making a decision and according to Spanish sports daily AS, they are yet to open negotiations with Chelsea for Costa.

The striker remains a priority target for the club, but Atletico Madrid are keen to thrash out personal terms with the player first before approaching Chelsea for the Spaniard.
