Arsenal have been showing fresh interest in Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri, who has also been linked with their north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, after Roma bowed out of the chase to sign him.

The 26-year-old midfielder has emerged on the radar of several top clubs in Europe after an excellent last season at Nice, where he helped them to finish third in Ligue 1.

The Ivory Coast international has been on the wanted list of Barcelona, and Roma even agreed a contract with Seri, but failed to meet Nice’s financial expectations for a deal.

With Roma out of the picture, Arsenal have re-entered the chase for Seri and according to French sports daily L’Equipe, the club are showing a renewed interest in the midfielder.

With Santi Cazorla expected to miss a large chunk of next season too, Arsene Wenger is expected to spend again to strengthen his midfield and the Nice midfielder is one of his targets.

Nice have a private agreement to sell the Seri for a fee of €40m, but the Ligue 1 club are in no mood to lower their price for the midfielder during the summer transfer window.

Tottenham have also been interested in him, but they are yet to make any concrete moves to suggest that they will slug it out with Arsenal for his signature.
